Whether the company has two employees or one thousand, the company has to develop a system that keeps all departments on the same page. Business projects come in all shapes and sizes and according to Eric Holzclaw, INC Company Strategist, “Ensure Constant Accountability and Pick the Right Team and Let Them Focus,” (Inc.com) are two main components of running a successful project plan.

#Slack, an application developed in 2009 out of San Francisco, California has the ability to bring a project team together by providing a platform for all parties to communicate and share ideas. “Slack is the killer of email,” states Seth Stevenson of the Wall Street Journal. Slack provides categories that inter-departmental followers can communicate between one another. According to Slack CEO, Stewart Butterfield, Slack provides an unique way for everyone on the project to stay up to speed, informed and knowledgeable.

With a slogan like, “Where work in progress meets progress in work,” Slack Frontiers will be headlining their first conference in September at 12-13, 2017 in San Francisco. This conference will focus on getting teams to working together more efficiently. The two-day conference will provide tips as well as hash out solutions for common challenges that most companies face.

Slack is easy to setup and easy to share with the production team. Natalie Hoben of Search Engine Journal provides an easy to follow guide in “10 Ways to Use Slack for Community Building,” (SEJ). This application can be used for both small companies and large companies. Slack’s channels can further divide the company per department, topic, or topic. Coordinating schedules can be one of many obstacles for entrepreneurs and companies. Slack provides a plethora of application integrations such as Twitter, Salesforce, and Mail Chimp. Having a central location for the project team’s data can assist in speeding the project along to completion. Also with this cloud based application the project team is not locked down by location. All team members with internet access are able to access the project and work within the channels.
